Shock City Studios began when Doug Firley and Chris Loesch, musicians and owners of Shock City, noticed that the talented performers from the midwest were going to the coasts for their recording needs. This was odd to them, as Saint Louis has a very rich musical history, and a laid-back vibe unlike that found on the coasts. Determined to attract the artists from surrounding areas, and alleviate the need to go coastal to record, Firley and Loesch began designing and developing a world class, destination type studio close to home. Three years later, inside the now restored Polar Ice & Fuel building, Shock City Studios was born.
